The Backyard Ultra

The Backyard Ultra is an ultramarathon designed by Lazarus Lake where runners must run a yard (lap) of 4.167 miles (6.71kms) in less than one hour for as many hours as they can.

The 4.167 mile loop equates to running 100 miles in 24 hours.

A new lap begins every hour, on the hour, until only one runner remains.

The last person standing is the winner with all other runners receiving a DNF [Did Not Finish].

Old Tom Backyard

The Old Tom Backyard is located on a family farm near the small town of Blumenort MB, approximately 25 minutes southeast of Winnipeg.  The co-race directors, Danny and Steffan Reimer, are a father-son team who both grew up on this very farm!

The "Old Tom" name originates from two sources.  First from the road the farm is located on, Old Tom Road.  And second, being located on a turkey farm, a "Tom" is a male turkey, which the farm has raised in abundance over the years!
